French Republic

When we would like to have a quick look at the history of colonialism of the French Republic, we can clearly see that the colonialism policy the French Republic has been doing for centuries is completely unique. At first glance, we can easily say that the impact of this colonial system implemented by France has continued from the first days until today and has become more and more intense. We see that France's relations with the West African countries, over which it formerly had lands and especially over which it now exerts pressure, have become complicated. In fact, these countries use the money printed by the French Republic under the control of the French central bank, due to old ties. On the other hand, when we look at the event from a different perspective, we inevitably question how independent these colonial countries are from France. Especially when we look at the socio-cults and political reflections of the colony, or France's interventions even in the elections of these countries, the answer becomes clearer. When we take such an overview of the situation, we see that France, especially the West African countries. It would not be wrong to say that colonial activities in the country are a basis for postcolonialism activities.

As for the colonial activities implemented by France in North Africa, we would not make a mistake if we say that it is a little different from the colonial policy implemented in West Africa or the colonial policy implemented in sub-Saharan, except for Algeria. The main reasons for this policy difference can be listed as geographical and cultural differences. In addition, Islam and Arabic, the religious beliefs in the region, were recorded as two of the biggest obstacles to Frenchification there. Realizing that a direct intervention in the region would be counterproductive for such reasons, the French government chose to follow a different path and make an indirect intervention by supporting the existing governments.

We stated that there was an exception for Algeria. If we come to this exception, France followed a more naive policy in Algeria compared to its colonial activities in Mauritania, Morocco, and especially Tunisia. The main reasons for this can be listed as the previous uprisings and their unwillingness to experience civil unrest. For this reason, Algeria decided to follow a very different strategy against the French government. They took a much more aggressive and aggressive attitude towards France, which naturally led to an aggressive response from France afterward. Moreover, the reason why France could not completely dominate Algeria was that Algeria was one of France's first colonies. For example, in the following years, France used the experiences it gained from Algeria in other Muslim countries, Morocco, Mauritania, and Tunisia.
