Letter from the Under-Secretary-General

Distinguished Delegates,

First of all, it is my honor to welcome you all to İleriMUN'24. My name is Efe Furkan Ekşi and I will serve as your USG in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization(NATO) committee during this four-day conference. First of all, I have not the slightest doubt that this organization and this committee will develop you in many different aspects.

These organizations you attend will make you more competent in fields such as international politics and diplomacy, and will also contribute to your personal development in many different ways. In the later stages of your life, the discussions you engage in here, finding common ground and seeking a solution, working as a team, and speaking comfortably in front of the public will return you positively.

So why did I start participating in MUN organizations? Actually, my reason for joining is the same as many people's. I aimed to improve myself in the political fields I was interested in, but in addition to these, I also gained many things such as quick decision-making, removing obstacles to speaking and making presentations in front of the public comfortably, and stress management. I have seen the benefit of all of these gains and I believe that you, too, will gain such gains and benefit from them throughout your life.

So why the NATO committee? Of course, during your participation in MUN organizations, you will see many committees on many different topics. You will have discussions and gain knowledge in many different fields, and you will even find yourself defending views that you do not support, but that your country requires you to defend. As you follow this path, you will turn to the place that suits you best and appeals to you the most, as in every part of life. This is exactly why I felt that NATO, a multi-faceted committee where both political discussions and military operations take place at the same time, was the committee closest to me. I am sure that by experiencing these, you will make the best decisions for yourself.

While you experience all these at the same time, constantly improve yourself, do your best, and find the best solution for both your country and the world, you can also have fun and enjoy where you are.
